Apple Music vs Spotify
Here, on the Myah and Mya Mockery, you get weekly stories from Authors Myah Bloomfield and Mya Homier. Bloomfield and Homier write sarcastic and satirical articles about things happening in and around school, relevant and irrelevant.
There has been a lot of debate about the better music platform, Apple Music or Spotify. Spotify itself says that Spotify is “a digital music, podcast, and video service that gives you access to millions of songs and other content from creators all over the world.” Okay Spotify… nice and straightforward, you got it.
Apple Music “supports artists with tools to create, release, promote, and measure music across a global stage.” I could just be us, but what does that mean?
Sophomore Samantha Hohenberger prefers Spotify. Hohenberger has Spotify Premium, which her “Mama” pays for. Hohenberger prefers Spotify because she thinks that Apple Music is overrated.
Senior, Mira Horvath, actually prefers the music platform Musi. Sombre-moon on the Apple App Store gives Musi four out of five stars, the comment is titled “Almost perfect”.
Sombre-moon says it’s not perfect because “What the ads do quite frequently is crash the app and on some occasions my entire phone. I have an iPhone 13 and don’t have crashing issues using the app in any other capacity. This seems to occur after the ad ends and completely destroys the app.
From sound glitches to straight up turning my phone off and closing the app, ads seem to have a hugely detrimental effect upon the app.”
That’s a tough blow to take there, Musi.
Spotify has been around since April 2006, comparable to Apple Music only having been out since June 2015.
Getting an artist account is more complex than making a regular account on both platforms. Because it’s so easy, many self-made rappers like joining these platforms.
Junior, Layla Briseno thinks that Spotify rappers are more complex. Horvath and Hohenberger both agree, one of their favorites being Lil Coopie with his 3 songs released.
