Defiance Softball clinches WBL title
The Defiance Softball team clinched the WBL title against Lima Bath High School on April 27, 2023.
The Dogs played the Kenton Wildcats on Thursday, May 4th, and won with a final score of 12-0. This game helped the Bulldogs to win the WBL outright.
The last time the team won the WBL was in 2019. This is the third time in the previous five seasons that they have won the title, not including the Covid-19 season.
Currently, the Dogs are 8-0 in the WBL with one game left to play. Their last matchup is against Celina.
This season the team has been led by not only the three seniors but some underclassmen. Sophomore Ayvah Cullen has been a big part of the team’s successes at the plate, with a .481 batting average, and making plays in the field.
The girls are on a roll and there is no stopping yet. The team finishes the season on Thursday, May, 11. The postseason begins the next day, May 12, 2023, when the Dogs take on the Liberty Benton Eagles. Good luck ladies!
